Property Description

by Dylan Stephens

Sea View is a self-catering apartment consisting of the first and second floors above a Post Office in a double wide terraced stone building dating back to 1903, with all modern conveniences. This spacious and comfortable Snowdonia self-catering apartment, being located in the centre of historic Harlech town in upper Harlech, will seem as if you are staying in one of the turrets of the 13th century Edwardian Harlech Castle (a World Heritage site)!

Its name Sea View, which is the same name of the house of the famous Welsh poet Dylan Thomas, is actually an understatement as it possesses not only a 180 degree sea view, but a stunning closeup view of the castle of Owain Glyndwr and of the song Men of Harlech with a distant view of Cricieth Castle, and, as if that was not enough: a view Snowdon and the Snowdonia range! All four west facing rooms at this Harlech self-catering apartment boast stunning views of the Harlech castle, St. David's golf course, Cardigan Bay where the Mabinogion hero Bran walked across to Ireland, the Llyn Peninsula where at Aberdaron King Arthur landed before he was mortally wounded at Camlann and taken to Bardsey Island to become the Celtic Christian St Arthmael in Brittany, and Snowdonia National Park.

On the first floor of this Harlech holiday let is a kitchen and a dining room, which can seat everyone in your party, and a full bathroom. The sitting room, which has leather sofas with leg-rests and two swivel chairs in the bay window, is where the spectacular views described above can be seen and, in conjunction with the snug room which has a piano, there is provided a comfortable sitting area for 10, with the snug room being perfect for children.

On the second floor this Harlech self-catering apartment are five bedrooms and a full bathroom with bidet. Two of these bedrooms have a super-king and king bed facing all the spectacular views. The other three bedrooms welcome the sunrise over the tops of the houses in the town having a king bed with shares space with the washer and dryer with its own sink, a double bed, and a room with two full size bunk beds.

The small enclosed front courtyard at the back entrance at this Snowdonia self-catering apartment offers a place to relax next to the spacious garden area with the view of the majestic castle turrets, or why not take a picnic lunch and sit in the courtyard of the castle, just a few steps away!

All of Harlech's amenities are at your doorstep, including a Spar market, tea rooms, sweet shop, pubs and restaurants. Being in the Snowdonia National Park there are many trails that begin in Harlech, and Harlech beach is just a short walk away with a sandy beach that stretches for miles. The St. David's golf course is right out the window and close by is a train station south to Barmouth and London and north to Porthmadog and Pwllheli. From Porthmadog is the easy and cheap way to get to Snowdon from here on the Sherpa bus up Pen Y Pass to Miner's /Pyg Track up Snowdon. With stunning sea, mountain, and castle views, this Harlech self-catering apartment with central heating and an electric fireplace is in a lovely location to just stay inside any time of the year or venture out to shop, hike, swim at the beach, golf, dine, or attend the theater. It may rain all day, but there is almost guaranteed a spectacular sunset every evening followed by the lighted castle.
